Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has urged the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitri celebration to pray for love, peace, unity and progress of the nation.
In his goodwill message to Muslims on Monday marking the Sallah celebration, Oritsejajor congratulated the adherents for a successul fasting.
Oritsejafor urged them to use the occasion of this year's Ramadan as a turning point to join hands with other well meaning Nigerians to pray and for the progress of the nation.
He urged them to draw from the lessons of the 30-day Ramadan fast and the teaching of the Holy Quran to prevail on the Boko Haram sect to see Nigeria as a nation created by God for a purpose and allow peace to reign in every part of the country.
"I congratulate all Muslim faithful for faithfully observing the mandatory 30 days fasting.
"They should use this period to put an end to the security challenges that have left thousands dead and several others displaced, so that people can go about their legitimate duties including the practice of their religion without fear of terrorist attacks."
The CAN president noted that Nigeria belonged to Christians, Muslims and traditionalists, adding that every Nigerian has an inalienable right to practice his religion in any part of the country without any form of inhibition by any person or group. (NAN)
