American Ambassador to Nigeria visits the University of Uyo

The American ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Terrence McCulley, was today at the Onyema Ugochukwu hall of the University of Uyo to interact with students of the institution.

Also present were top management members of staff; the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, Dean of Students and all Deans of Faculties.

The ambassador spoke on youth involvement in the Nigerian political system and emphasis was on responsibility of leaders on the promises they make to the people whose veto led to their being in office.

He promised to established a link with the students to the United States government as regards student empowerment and involvement in the country. The link also involved the establishment of the Full bright scholarship and Carrington youth initiative.

Also promised was postgraduate scholarships to United States Universities through the consulate in Lagos.

The event was concluded with the presentation of a souvenir by the University's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Comfort Ekpo.
